Support to UP Akankshi Nagar Yojana
The Department of Urban Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh, launched the Akankshi Nagar Yojana (ANY), or the Aspirational Cities Program, to address these disparities and encourage inclusive growth.
ANY targets 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), each with populations ranging from 20,000 to 100,000. It aims to bridge regional disparities, improve basic infrastructure, and unlock economic potential, all in alignment with Uttar Pradesh’s vision of becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
The scheme focuses on five core pillars:
- Urban Infrastructure,
- Social Infrastructure (Health & Education),
- Governance,
- Economic Opportunities and
- Climate Resilience.
By driving these areas, ANY lays the foundation for holistic urban transformation, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a model for inclusive, sustainable development that can compete both nationally and globally.
How We Operate
This program will significantly inform and influence health policy, governance and action in similar transitional cities.
Strengthening institutional capacities at the State and City level to proactively identify and address urban health and nutrition issues. This includes closely working with CM Urban Fellows, officials of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and city level health functionaries.

Improving planning, implementation, and monitoring by providing knowledge support on urban health and nutrition. Enhancing coordination between departments and collaborating with local partners.

Facilitating implementation and demonstrating innovative solutions through direct engagement at the city-level in 5 ‘learning sites’: Mohanlalganj (Lucknow), Maa Kamakhya (Ayodhya), Renukoot (Sonbhadra), Ghaghsara Bazar (Gorakhpur) and Kaiserganj (Bahraich).
